For the next twelve years, she worked in the corporate arena, spending seven of those years with the Williams-Sonoma organization learning the retail business side of the culinary and home decor fields .

In 2001 she moved with her husband and sons from Los Angeles to Mobile, Alabama to be nearer her husband’s family. She has been with Mobile Fixture since then, working as a buyer, marketing specialist and cooking class instructor.  She and Elizabeth met at Mobile Fixture in 2003 and began cooking together and laying the foundation for “Spoons and Whisks”, in 2007.

Chef Elizabeth Galanos Gregory was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama.  Growing up, she always loved to cook with her maternal grandmother, Posey, who made the most beautiful pies and cookies and also with her paternal grandmother, YaYa, who made traditional Greek cuisine.  To this day, Elizabeth uses many of their recipes!

After graduating from high school in Mobile, Elizabeth began college at Auburn University in Auburn, Alabama.  During her sophomore year in college, while living in the sorority dorm, Elizabeth had a break between classes, during which she would come back to her room and eat lunch.  That  happened to be the time of day that Martha Stewart's television show was on.  Elizabeth became very interested in the cooking segments and started printing the recipes from Martha's website and taking them home to Mobile to try them out.  She wanted to see if she could make her desserts look like Martha's!  Most of the time it was a success.  After realizing that she loved to cook, she started working for personal chef, Carol Duncan, in Auburn and helping her with larger private parties.  Elizabeth also did a college internship at Mobile Fixture one summer where she met Chef Stacy McIntosh!

Two weeks after graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Apparel Merchandising, Design, and Production Management, Elizabeth left for New York to attend The French Culinary Institute's Pastry Program.  After graduating with a Grand Diplome in Pastry Arts, Elizabeth decided to take what she had learned back to Mobile.

Since arriving home Elizabeth has taught various culinary classes, done private catering, spent over two years at Greer's Fairhope Market building their gourmet food and catering program, and been on the opening team as Pastry Chef of both Oysterella's and True.  Chef Elizabeth's Southern and Greek roots have taught her the importance of tradition and familiarity, but also that adding an element of excitement and uniqueness makes all of the difference!  Chef Elizabeth is certified as a food handler in Mobile County as well as having her ServSafe certification.
